DRUM HEADlines
May 1, 2012
Ok so I haven’t written since Xmas! Lots of things happening in my world, one of which is a little drum clinic I’ll be participating in this weekend. I’ll do some playing and demonstrations from the Syncopation (Ted Reed) book. I’ll also talk about how to give a drum solo performance while accompanying yourself. I hope to see lots of drummers and fans of drumming in the audience.
In other news, singer Rick Faugno was recently named best Lounge Act in Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Review Journal. As you may know, I arranged all of Rick’s show as his musical director and drummer. Rick has since left his regular Tuesday residence and is currently working on booking new venues in and outside of Las Vegas. Stay tuned!

Some really nice words published about me in last week’s Las Vegas Review Journal’s review of Rick Faugno’s show, “Body & Soul”. Click here to check it out. http://www.lvrj.com/neon/rick-faugno-stands-out-from-the-crooner-crowd-132768433.html
This show is bringing back old school Las Vegas and I’m very happy with the results so far!

More amazing news to talk about came in this morning in the form of a newspaper/online article by the San Diego County News. The article gave a GLOWING review of the Brian Czach Trio featured every Wednesday night at the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas. Here’s the link to the article.
It is so thrilling to know that word is spreading about the Trio and that we are making headlines even outside of local Las Vegas! Long live live jazz in Las Vegas!!

I’m very excited to announce I am an official endorser of Agner Drumsticks!! Made by Swiss Percussion, Agner is a 25 year old company from Europe and they are just now expanding into the US market. Their sticks are really quality wood with lots of options for sizes and shapes. I’m currently trying out many different models to find that perfect balance between weight and balance. Lately I’m using the 5A wood tip for rock, and the 7S for jazz. But I’m also digging the DW, the Avantgarde, the Jazz model, and the rubber handles telescoping brushes. Check out my blog page for more info on Agner and how I became associated with them.

My family and I just moved across town to a 5 bedroom house! It’s been a hectic couple of weeks leading up to the move, with everything having to be packed up in a box and moved. Also, I’ve been busier than ever with live work of all kind around Las Vegas.
The new house has an extra large bedroom in the downstairs for which I have big plans to turn into a drum room and recording studio. I will keep my Yamaha Recording Custom set up in the room, all mic’ed up and ready to record at a moment’s notice. I will also be able to teach lessons out of this studio and I plan on setting up the ability to do Skype drum lessons over the internet. So anyone around the world with an internet connection and web cam can easily sign up for a lesson with me.
Also in the news, I recently found out that the LivingSocial.com website has rated my Brian Czach Trio as the #1 Las Vegas Jazz group! I am so thrilled about the success we are enjoying. We continue to play every Wednesday at the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas.
Needless to say, I’m very excited about these new possibilities of my studio and how it will affect my career. Stay tuned for more news as the progress continues....

I’m now the proud owner of a fully functional recording rig for my drums. If you’re a songwriter, producer, or hobbyist and you have a song or collection of songs that could use great sounding professional drums with a live drummer, let me know and I can give you a great introductory deal. Please remember I have FOUR different drum sets for different sounds, a collection of snare drums, cymbals, etc. to get the exact sound you’re going for. I’ll be posting the exact specs for everything I have very shortly.

I was recently featured in an article in the Neon section of the Las Vegas Review Journal. The article talks about my current regular jazz gig at the Mandarin Bar at Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas and touches on some of my past including how I got involved in the Las Vegas music scene. For the last month, my jazz trio has been performing every Wednesday at the Mandarin Bar inside the Mandarin Oriental on the Las Vegas Strip. I’ve had nothing but great feedback from the patrons, bar staff, and management since we started. There’s also been some buzz in local newspapers and online blogs. Here’s a short video taken from VegasChatter.com.

A few months ago, I auditioned for Cirque Du Soileil and passed! What this means is that my name is now in their database and I could get a call to play drums for one of their shows. It’s an honor to be accepted into such a prestigious category of performing arts. Hope I get called for a show!
In other news, I’ve started my own band! It’s a rock n’ roll cover band that is designed to play casino lounges, parties, and events of all type. I call the band Zack Attack! and I will feature the band on it’s very own web page very soon. So far we’ve been playing weekends at the Tropicana Celebration Lounge to much success. I’m looking forward to booking the band in other venues around Las Vegas and elsewhere. Check my gigs page for where and when you can catch us performing next.

I’ve been doing a series of online drum lessons videos for a website called TheDrumDungeon.com. I linked the videos from my Lessons page too so you can see them directly from this site. I’m very excited to have been invited to participate in such a cool resource.
A benefit concert that was held at the Suncoast Casino to help local entertainer/musician Bill Fayne was featured in the LA Times just recently. Brian not only contracted all of the backing band for the show but was Musical Director for the show and all of the entertainers who took part. Here’s the link:

Brian was honored to play a part in helping Mr. Fayne raise money to help with the cost of his surgery from a few months prior. We’re glad to see Bill back on his feet and recovering so that he can go back to making a living on stage again!
