November blast!

Well, another summer has come and gone and it’s mid November already. This year is flying by. I’ve been enjoying quite a few road gigs with the Australian Bee Gees show, Disco Fever, Nashville country artist Matt Rogers, and the Nashville Yacht Club Band. Now that I'm home for the next few months, it's nice to reflect on all the amazing performance and recording opportunities I've had this year. It's been my best year in Nashville by far and I'm super grateful for all the people who have asked me to make music with them. Next month will be my 10 year anniversary of moving to Music City. They say it's a 10 year town so who knows what will happen? Haha!

This past October I went out with a show called La Vida Loca performing with the Buffalo Symphony in Western New York. We had one show. I wish it was more! It was a great orchestra and Buffalo is a fun town to hang in. I LOVE the tasty chicken wings! My family was with me and we got to visit Ithaca, NY where I went to school at Ithaca College. It was a very nostalgic trip for me as I hadn't been back there in about 25 years. I was able to meet with my percussion professor Gordon Stout and his wife Chrissy, and my jazz professor Steve Brown and his wife Barbara. We all had such a great time in Ithaca and in Buffalo for the performance.

I was home for one night before I left for a 10 show tour in Canada with the Australian Bee Gees show, which is a Bee Gees tribute. It’s been such a pleasure to join up with the ABGS again after so many years. This is the same group that I used to tour with when I lived in Las Vegas, where they are based and have a 6 nights/week show on the Las Vegas Strip. Playing the music of the Bee Gees is such a pleasure and in my opinion, they wrote some of the best songs in pop music in the last hundred years. I take great pride in playing the drum parts as accurately and authentically as possible. In addition, as a bonus, one of my best friends plays Bass in the show. His name is David Inamine and we have such a great time working together both on stage and off.

Last month, David asked me to help out a friend of his by picking him up at a hotel here in Nashville and taking him to the local drum stores. He’s a doctor by trade but enjoys playing drums as a hobby. I picked him up and we went to Fork’s Drum Closet and Nelson’s Drum Shop. I ended up finding a nice new ride cymbal at Fork's, and David’s friend Kevin was nice enough to gift me a pair of 16 inch hi hats that really spoke to me that we found at Nelson's. I was speechless that he would gift me such a beautiful item that would do nothing but keep on giving. Side note: If you’re interested in hearing the backstory of those hihat cymbals, I did a video of these new cymbals on my YouTube channel so you can hear and see them.

After the 10 show tour in Canada, I flew home in time to record a 13 song project with Ted “Theo” Perlman, a producer I’ve been working with recently. We have been working together on a few different sessions and it's been wonderful working with him, and Jonathan Nixon on bass, and Jody Nardone on keys. Everything we record is cut LIVE with no click! That's pretty unusual these days, and it's a lot of fun but super challenging because you really have to nail your part, especially the drums because there is no going back to "punch in". After that, I had a couple of shows booked with the Nashville Yacht Club Band. One was a fly out to Houston, TX for a private party, and a local show in Nashville that I played this past Saturday.
Also October was the last Songwriters Workshop for the year at the Musicians Union. It was such a creative and fun night playing 6 songs that the writers brought in, (sightreading the Nashville Number Charts), and trying different arrangements of the songs with the songwriter right there to give us feedback. It's a really positive environment for anyone interested in knowing how songs come together from a simple demo. It's educational and anyone can bring their axe and sit in too. Join us next year starting in January. It's held every last Wednesday of the month at 7pm. Everyone is welcome and it’s free to attend.

Speaking of songwriters, I will be in my home studio and available to record drums on your music project over the winter months. If you have a song or collection of songs that would benefit from live drums, get in touch with me and ask me about my rates. I love recording and I'd love to hear your music and be a part of it. Lastly, I'm still creating content on my Patreon page (www.patreon.com/brianczach) so for all you drummers, click on the site and don't miss out on the exclusive lessons, career advice, and helpful hints I'm practically GIVING away. I'm also available for in person lessons and online one on one lessons as well.
Sending lots of love and appreciation for following me here and for reading this far! Many thanks.
